Guidelines and Procedures

Unfortunately, Elliott Endowment can only fund a small percentage of the many worthwhile proposals and grant requests received each year. These guidelines, formulated over the years by our founders and the Endowment’s Board, govern our grantmaking decisions.

Areas of interest

Please only submit grant request for open programs. The list of open programs can be found on the Open Programs page.

Community Development

Grantmaking generally focuses on enhancing the quality of life in Arizona. We grant funds for human and social needs, arts, culture and religious education. We have a special interest in children, orphans, orphanages, foster children with hearing impairments, and foster homes.

Education

Our goal is to improve education in Arizona. We do this through a special emphasis on individualized instruction, private instruction, tutoring, and continuing education programs. We support on an individual basis programs that enhance the education opportunities for the hearing impaired.

Religion

Our primary aim in this field is to deepen and enrich the religious lives of American citizens, principally by supporting efforts to encourage, support and educate a new generation. We support projects that strengthen the contributions that religious ideas, practices, and values make to the common good of our society.

Geographic Priority

In keeping with the founders’ wishes, the Endowment gives priority to efforts that improve the quality of life in Phoenix, and Arizona, or have bases of operation in Arizona.

Limitations

Elliott Endowment generally does not support:

1. Loans to private individuals. We do not assist individuals with personal financial needs.

2. Requests to discharge preexisting debts of individuals or organizations.

3. Mass media projects or public awareness campaigns.

4. Other Endowments or endowed chairs.

5. Libraries.

6. Outside Arizona programs.
